Biography

Dr. Suzann Gordon began her nursing career working with pediatric and adolescent patients at a residential behavioral health treatment facility for many years while she also worked in the ICU at local hospitals. She then began working with mentally ill patients as a psychiatric registered nurse at the State of Nevada in both the inpatient and outpatient mental health settings located in Sparks, NV. While she was working as a registered nurse case manager on the patient assertive community treatment (PACT) team for the State of Nevada, she was recruited to be in the first cohort at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) for their new Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program.

She was recruited to be in UNR’s first Bachelor of Science in Nursing to Doctor of Nursing Practice program as well. After three years, she and her coworker became the first Doctor of Nursing Practice students to graduate from ONR with their degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Gordon became board certified about a month later as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and has specialized in working with the severely mentally ill adult populations, has completed training in First Episode Psychosis for younger severely mentally ill populations and has worked with adolescent and young adults with a severe mental illness, and she also works with and prescribes medications for patients who are engaged in a Medication-Assisted Treatment program.

Personal Interests

Dr. Gordon loves spending time with her family, watching baseball, and enjoys long summer days on the back of a Harley Road Glide touring around Northern Nevada taking in the beautiful sites.
