Join Us for GivingTuesday: Fight Hunger, Fuel Health

This GivingTuesday, Community Health Alliance is on a mission to launch a new prescription food pantry at our Nell J. Redfield Health Center on Neil Road. With your support, we can provide nutritious meals to families struggling with food insecurity and ensure access to healthy food tailored to patients’ medical needs.

Why It Matters

In Washoe County, over 50,000 people face hunger, including 1 in 6 children. Food insecurity impacts physical health, mental well-being, and the ability to thrive. CHA’s prescription food pantries delivers fresh fruits, vegetables, and proteins to those who need it most—because food is medicine.

How You Can Help

Every $20 you give provides 5 meals to families in need. Together, we can nourish our community and build a healthier future.

Expansion and Renovation of the Nell J. Redfield Health Center on Neil Road

Neil-Rendering

Imagine a healthcare center that goes beyond offering services—a place that serves as a beacon of hope for those most in need. That place is the Nell J. Redfield Health Center on Neil Road, a vital part of Community Health Alliance, dedicated to empowering and uplifting lives in one of Northern Nevada’s most underserved areas.

Since 2012, this health center has been a lifeline for over 3,500 residents each year, providing essential primary care. Yet, despite its critical role, the center’s facility is bursting at the seams, needing help to keep up with the growing demand.

The Need Is Urgent

Located in the heart of a community struggling with severe economic and social challenges, the Neil Road neighborhood faces staggering disparities.

According to the 2023 HRSA Unmet Need Data Report, residents of the Neil Road neighborhood encounter a range of challenges related to health and social determinants.

  • 72% live below the federal poverty line
  • 54% have been diagnosed with diabetes
  • 21% struggle with obesity
  • 94% are housing stressed
  • 27% have limited access to healthy foods
  • 88% have no vehicle access
  • 84% do not have a high school diploma
  • 75% have poor physical health
Ensuring Health Equity in Northern Nevada

Thanks to a $5 million commitment from the City of Reno, funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, we are on the brink of a transformative project. Our goal is clear: to expand and renovate the Nell J. Redfield Health Center on Neil Road, turning it into a state-of-the-art facility capable of serving more of our community’s most vulnerable members. Here’s what your support will help achieve:

By investing in the expansion of the Nell J. Redfield Health Center, you are investing in the health, well-being, and future of an entire community. Healthy individuals are the foundation of thriving communities, and with your support, we can create lasting change for generations to come.

Help Us Make a Difference—Together

Will you help us expand our care to reach 4,000 more Northern Nevadans in need? Together, we can build a legacy of health, hope, and opportunity for those who would otherwise go without.
